Overview

The Center for Biotechnology at Stony Brook University has been redesignated as a New York State Center for Advanced Technology (CAT), securing $10 million in funding over the next decade through Empire State Development’s NYSTAR division. This investment will strengthen the Center’s role in advancing life science innovation by supporting early-stage technology development, fostering start-ups, creating jobs, and enhancing public-private partnerships—building on a track record of over $1 billion in economic impact and more than 1,000 jobs created during its last designation.
